Antibiotics
If you have been given a prescription for antibiotics it is important that you take
them as directed. If you have any queries ask ust.
The decision to prescribe antibiotics is based on a number of factors,
including;
1. Health reasons;
2. Your GP or Specialist may require them;
3. The type of procedure, eg implants, traumatic surgery.
Notwithstanding the above, the risk of infection in the mouth is extremely low,
and episodes are quite rare. There is a concerted push to minimise antibiotic
use due to the developing resistant strains of bacteria, which are becoming
increasingly more difficult to deal with.
